“You Got This.”
Blue Monday is a name given to a day in January (typically the third Monday of the month) claimed to be the most depressing day of the year.
Reasons for this day include bad weather, post-Christmas finances, time since failing our new year’s resolutions, low motivational levels and feeling of a need to take action.
If you are feeling low or depressed you may find that you are drained of energy, hope, and drive, making it difficult to take the steps that will help you to feel better. But while overcoming this isn’t quick or easy, it’s far from impossible. At BEO we appreciate that you can’t just will yourself to “snap out of it,” but you do have more control than you realise—even if your low mood is severe and stubbornly persistent. The key is to start small and build from there.
Feeling better takes time, but you can get there by making positive choices for yourself each day. We have shared some inspirational words from our key note speakers at our BEO event which took place yesterday which we hope will inspire and motivate you to take action and realise that you have indeed got this!
We also have some wise words from three inspiring ladies who took to the couch yesterday to share their message of self-care from three unique, informed perspectives.
If you feel you need additional support we always encourage people to reach out to the appropriate organisations who are best equipped to help you. More information can be found on our BEO Support page HERE. And remember:
“Its OK to ask for help, its OK to start again, its OK to say NO, its OK to rest, its OK to let go…
and its OK not to be OK!”
